The Room Next Door (12A)
Pedro Almodóvar’s first English language film delves into the complexities of companionship in the face of mortality. Estranged friends, Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked at the same magazine. Separated by the circumstances of life, the two reconnect when Ingrid is diagnosed with terminal cancer and as Ingrid faces her imminent death she turns to Martha for support. The Room Next Door explores the themes of friendship, love, and the profound choices we make at the end of life. “Almodóvar spins a gorgeous, fragile tale of life and death.” The Guardian
