The Good Liar (15) – Postponed
In light of the Coronavirus and concern about the health of our community, we have decided to postpone this screening until a later date. Hopefully we’re being over cautious but given the particular age range of our cinema audiences, it feels like the right thing to do. However, this decision for films does not affect other events at the Foxlowe.
We will update on future screenings as circumstances unfold. Apologies to anyone who planned to attend.
For full details see our Cinema Page.
The Good Liar pairs legendary actors Helen Mirren and Ian McKellan on the big screen for the first time in this smart and suspenseful thriller directed by Bill Condon (Mr Holmes, Gods and Monsters). Career con artist Roy Courtnay (McKellan) can hardly believe his luck when he meets well-to-do widow Betty McLeish (Mirren) online. As Betty opens her home and life to him, Roy is surprised to find himself caring about her, turning what should be a cut-and-dry swindle into the most treacherous tightrope walk of his life. “It’s Mirren and McKellan who make it sing. When the focus is on them as a couple, they’re a joy. They are the new Hepburn and Tracy.” Kevin Maher, The Times
