SKA-lloween III – The Skalinskis, Packet Racket, Alcohol Licks & DJ Mummyfunk
Lovers of ska, reggae and two-tone grooves are in for a treat as Leek Ska hosts a Halloween themed night of music, dance and partying.
Three ska bands and a vinyl DJ line up for the third SKA-lloween party to be held at the Foxlowe Arts Centre on Saturday 26th October. There will also be free Halloween based face painting with gig-goers encouraged to ‘Dress to scare, If you dare!’.
Doors will open at 7.30pm for a 8pm start. The party gets started with DJ Mummyfunk who will spin a dance fuelled set of vinyl ska and reggae classics.
The live music kicks in at eight with West Midlands-based Alcohol Licks serving up ‘Hard-Drinking, Anarcho-Vegetarian, Ska-Punk, Hardcore-Pub-Rock, Covers-Protest and more!
Next up Welsh ska/punk band Packet Racket with their energetic ska vibes guaranteed to fill the floor. This upbeat punky ska outfit never fail to get the dancers grooving.
Bringing the night to a close are headliners Stoke-based ska favourites, The Skalinskis, a six-piece eclectic combo who bring a fusion of upbeat dub and ska and a hint of eastern European folk in the mix.
One of the organiser’s Mark, bass player for the Skalinskis said: “I can’t wait for SKAlloween III. We always have one hell of a party playing in Leek and the mix of Halloween costumes, make-up and incredible music makes for a unique atmosphere.
“Thanks to Dave Swarbrook who started Leek Ska, this is our sixth event here in five years. The North Staffordshire Ska crowd really appreciate the music and know how to have a good time.
Organiser Jamie added “Ska music is about authenticity, multiculturalism and inclusion. A reaction to things that are happening, without the aggression of punk. Ska kicks back with danceable songs with a message and by creating a party atmosphere wherever it is played.”
