BIG vs SMALL (12A)
When filmmaker Minna Dufton started her documentary about elite big wave champion surfer, Joana Andrade, little did she know Joana harboured a deep fear of drowning, what happened next was serendipity. BIG vs SMALL is a modern-day fairytale stretching from monster waves in Nazaré, Portugal to the dark stillness of a far-north frozen Finnish lake – it’s about power and strength on top of the water and facing demons under it. It’s about trust, it’s about letting go, and it’s about what happens when two elite champion athletes share their extraordinary talents with each other. “I believe that we all face big wave challenges in our lives and we need stories like Joana’s to help us get through them” Minna Dufton.
