All Of Us Strangers (15)
Andrew Scott (Fleabag) and Paul Mescal (Aftersun) are superb in Andrew Haigh’s adaptation of a 1987 novel by Taichi Yamada. Scott is Adam, a lonely screenwriter living in London, who falls in love with Mescal’s Harry. When he goes to visit his childhood home (to find inspiration for his next project), he discovers his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) there, living just as they did on the day they died, 30 years before. “The acting is off the scale. Scott, in particular, infuses his character with such vulnerability that you’ll want to reach into the screen and comfort him.” The Spectator.
