On Wednesday 22nd April there will be a musical double at The Foxlowe Arts Centre when Leek Arts Festival 2020 will be launched at a Free Concert starring singer/songwriter Pete Morton who will be celebrating the launch of ‘A Golden Thread’ his latest CD, an addition to a catalogue of 16 albums produced during his career which began back to 1982.
His musical travels have included concerts, festivals, and Folk Operas in all parts of the UK, Europe, North America, Australasia, Hong Kong, Oman, Israel/Palestine, Pakistan, Malaysia and Singapore.
Pete Morton is a much-loved favourite troubadour with a wealth of great songs, a remarkable singing voice and a rapid fire sense of humour which tempers his vivid social commentary, sense of social justice and humanity.
Although based in London he frequently returns to play gigs in Staffordshire. During one such visit in 2019 year he struck up an exciting new partnership with Paul Yarrow of Field Street Studios in Leek.
The consequence is ‘A Golden Thread’ an album of musical magic created by Pete Morton and friends here in the Moorlands.
It will be performed live at The Foxlowe on 22nd April, when CDs will be available to purchase.
The concert will also be supported by The Peace through Folk Choir and ‘The Loop’ each presenting very different forms of the creative excellence which thrives in the Moorland air.
