Olga (12A)
Set in 2013, Olga tells the story of a 15-year-old Olympic hopeful training for the European Championship. She is forced to move to Switzerland from her home in Kyiv, Ukraine, where her mother works as an investigative journalist reporting on the Maidan Revolution. There she struggles to integrate with her new Swiss teammates, filled with fear for her mother’s safety. Incorporating documentary footage from the 2013 uprising, Olga is a tense, sensitively handled tale of exile reflecting the clash between the personal and political as Olga searches for identity – a clash that feels even more poignant following the events of the past year.
