SUMMARY:Wildlife Double Bill – Wildcats on Film & A Talk about Beavers in Staffordshire
DESCRIPTION:STOP PRESS – This event will be in the upstairs Rainbow Room, sadly with no disabled access. We’re expecting a large audience so best to come early if you want to be sure of a seat.\nLocal wildlife enthusiasts are invited to a special Wildlife Double Bill – Film and Talk at the Foxlowe Arts Centre, Leek, on Wednesday 13th May. The evening brings together two compelling stories of species recovery.\nThe event opens with a film about Highland wildcats, ‘Clinging by a Claw’ is a one‑hour documentary from RZSS offering a rare and intimate look at the fight to save Scotland’s wildcats from the brink of extinction. The film follows the remarkable efforts to return these iconic animals to the Cairngorms.\nAfter a short interval, the focus shifts closer to home with ‘Beavers Back in Staffordshire – Are We Ready?’, a talk by Nick Mott, Species Recovery & River Restoration Manager at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust. Nick will explore the return of beavers to the county, what it means for local landscapes, and how communities can prepare for their presence.\nNick is a freshwater ecologist and has worked at Staffordshire Wildlife Trust for 30 years.  He’s happiest in his thigh waders carrying out surveys and monitoring our rivers, streams, lakes, floodplains and wetlands.\n‘Most of the Trust’s recent wetland restoration work has been to imitate the activities of Beavers. Now we’re in a position to bring these wonderful, life-giving animals back to our river valleys. Are we ready?’\nWill they put Nick out of a job?? Join us on the 13th May to find out more…\nFree entry for all – donations welcome\n\n\n\nEvent Details\nDate: Wednesday 13th May\nDoors: 7:00pm\nFilm: 7:30pm\nVenue: Foxlowe Arts Centre, Market Place, Leek, ST13 6AD\nEntry: Free (Donations welcome)\nBar open throughout\nThis double bill offers an inspiring evening celebrating conservation success stories and the future of wildlife in our region.\n
