SUMMARY:Seed Share + Pop Up Stall for Down Syndrome with Ed Daly
DESCRIPTION:STOP PRESS!\nEd Daly, one of our favourite former gardeners, will be popping up to join us at our Seed Share this year. It will be Down Syndrome Awareness Week and World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March. Ed is hoping to raise funds for the Down Syndrome Association Workfit Programme that helps support people with Down syndrome into work.\nHe’s been busy with his mum making suet log feeders and bird nesting material to hang up this Spring for the birds, so will be selling them on his stall.\nPlease come along and support him if you can.\n\nThe Foxlowe Seed Share is back again. So-called because we don’t insist on direct swaps.  If you’d like some seeds but have none of your own to swap, you’ll be welcome to take some in exchange for a donation.\nWe focus on vegetable seeds and some flowers, particularly those that encourage pollinating insects. But anything that’s best to exchange at this time of year is welcome, including seed potatoes and onion sets.  There will be a Plant Share (tba.) in April or May for seedlings or larger plants, although of course our Plants-to-Go stand on the patio is current throughout the year.\nWe also welcome self-saved heritage seeds and will have some of our own, including Carlin and Latvian Christmas Grey pea seeds. \n\nNow we know how important soils are for soaking up carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, green manure seeds that help to protect them in a variety of ways have become increasingly popular, especially as many also attract insects. This year we are co-hosting the seed shares with Moorlands Climate Action, who sell a range of green manure seeds on their market stalls in Leek.\nBring your seeds in a packet or bag with some cultivation information, ideally the original one.\nNo seeds to swap? Make a donation instead.\nSeed potatoes, onion sets, etc. also welcome.\nSome heritage seeds provided.\nAnd of course the all-important green manure seeds.\nFind us in the bar\nFree admission but donations welcome\n
