SUMMARY:Oh! What a Lovely War (PG)
DESCRIPTION:Marking Armistice day and 100 years of the Nicholson Memorial, we’re screening Oh! What a Lovely War, directed by Richard Attenborough and boasting a stellar cast including Maggie Smith, Dirk Bogarde, John Gielgud, Laurence Olivier, Ralph Richardson, Vanessa Redgrave amongst many others. The film is a biting anti-war satire, both funny and heartbreakingly sad at the same time.  The working-class Smith family change their initially sunny views on World War One after the three boys of the family witness the harsh reality of trench warfare.  This powerful satire on World War One remains as relevant and moving today as ever.  Don’t miss this chance to experience a landmark piece of film history. “Dedicated, exhilarating, shrewd, mocking, funny, emotional, witty, poignant and technically brilliant” Variety.\nUK 1969  144 mins  Dir: Richard Attenborough\nTuesday 11th November\nCinema located on first floor – regrettably no disabled access.\nLicensed bar, hot drinks available from 7 pm.\nAdvance tickets available in the cafe and online.
