SUMMARY:Make Good – the Post Office scandal
DESCRIPTION:Apologies – Saturday afternoon 16 Nov:   all tickets gone:  none left.\nA new Musical which follows three years of development, Make Good tells the story of the Post Office Scandal, now recognised as one of the gravest miscarriages of justice in British history.\nMaxine Peake – “It’s chuffin’ marvellous! Go and see it; you won’t be disappointed!” \n“If we knew that this was going to happen to us, that we were going to become criminals by buying a Post Office, we would never, ever have done it.  They are the criminals. Behind closed doors they have secretly been doing this to us. This show opens up those doors and in doing so, it tells the story that the nation needs to hear.” – Subpostmaster.\nFor twenty years Subpostmasters all over the UK were jailed for stealing money that never existed.  Directly informed by conversations with affected Subpostmasters, Make Good dives into these most local of stories, capturing the raw emotion, the betrayals, and the collective disbelief that this could\nbe happening to innocent people.\nA new musical, three years in the making, it tells the story of the resilience of the Sub-Postmasters and their families, in what is now recognised as the gravest miscarriage of justice in British history. Can the Post Office ever make good the damage they have done?\n“The musical is full of feeling. And that’s what we need to portray to people now, so that they can feel and understand what we felt, all the heartache that we went through. The songs bring so much to the story, they’re heartfelt and there’s humour in it too, it’s funny. It made me smile as well as being touching” -Subpostmaster\nTouring Autumn 2024 – Celebrating 100 years of rural touring, and marking the 50th anniversary of leading rural theatre companies Pentabus and New Perspectives and there’s a community choir taking part in each performance.\nACCESS  (AD)  This show is accessible for blind and partially sighted audiences, with Audio Description integrated into the performance.\n\n\nSet Description ( https://on.soundcloud.com/ANFAdg66i1CfcKbo8 ) – read by Samual Gosrani\n\n\nElsie Character Description ( https://on.soundcloud.com/DSzk4vnJM3gLrA3t5 ) – read by Actor, Victoria Brazier\n\n\nIndira Character Description ( https://on.soundcloud.com/KXfN7CAqCWwj4c9N7 ) – read by Actor, Charlotte Delima\n\n\nMohandas Character Description ( https://on.soundcloud.com/63aLxKpe1gUHQHGZ8 ) – read by Actor, Samual Gosrani\n\n\nPatrick the Postman Character Description ( https://on.soundcloud.com/6NY2znCMUA9WRPQx6 ) – read by Actor, ed Gaughan\n\n\n               \n—>    Both these images from BBC News on 23 October.     Read the article at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1e8e98dvj6o\nAnd more:  Here’s a Guardian article on how the show came about:  https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/may/01/new-musical-based-on-horizon-scandal-is-deep-dive-into-the-crushing-heartbreak\nBrought to Leek by Live&Local.          Tickets at the Foxlowe and online – yes there’s a booking fee online but we don’t do surge pricing\n Apologies – Saturday afternoon 16 Nov:   all tickets gone:  none left.   Touring till 1 December – visit https://pentabus.co.uk/make-good-post-office-scandal for other dates\n
