DESCRIPTION:\n\nMeet the Artists on Saturday 13th August 10am to 12 noon and 2pm to 4pm.\nValerie Leeming\nJennie Morrey\nCathey Yardley\nCover picture by Val Muir\nLeek Textile 4 Group was formed in 2019 by textile artists Val Travers-Muir, Valerie Leeming, Cathey Yardley and Jennie Morrey, with the aim of developing textile artworks which express a shared ethos on environmental sustainability and a slow-stitch inspired work practice. \nAll members of the Leek Textile 4 Group have strong links with Leek. The group’s members met a few years ago through Staffordshire University’s Contemporary Art & Design Practice Degree course, then based in the old School of Art building in Leek College. Since then, they have had an active involvement with the Foxlowe Arts Centre, all members have exhibited at the Staffordshire Contemporary Artists & Designers Fair held at the Foxlowe. \nTheir shared experiences, ethos and slow-stitch work practice has given the group a strong collaborative approach, which has proved to be both supportive and inspiring. The coming Telling Threads exhibition from 27th  July until 10th September 2022 at the Foxlowe celebrates this collaboration of like minds and true friendship.\n“We have always told tales; some of the world around us, and some of the world within. Some Happy. Some sad. Some are told by the written word, and some by song and voice. Some by paint and film; and some by needle and thread. Our tales are of home and family, of grief and healing, of precious memories, and of the search for stillness in an increasingly busy world. These tales are told by way of slow stitch, textiles and thread… a fitting medium we feel, given that such tales form the very fabric of life”.\nTelling Threads Workshop Programme\nThese workshops run between 12.30 pm to 4pm. Please arrive at 12noon. Refreshments will be provided.\n Tuesday 9th August : Making a concertina book with a hand stitched cover with Val Muir.\n\n\n\n\nTuesday 16th August : Beginner’s guide to hand stitching with Valerie Leeming.\nTuesday 23rd August : Embellishing an icon lavender bag with Jennie Morrey.\nTuesday 6th September : Boro Stitching meditation with Cathey Yardley.\nEach workshop costs £30 and includes materials and refreshments\nBookings can be made: \nvia Instagram Message: leektextile4\nOr email : LeekTextile@icloud.com\n\n\n\n\n\n \n  The Gallery will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm each week, and the first Sunday in each month, 11am to 4pm.\n\n\n
